Now that Biden is in charge, are “liberals” coming to steal away Free Speech?

Should we be ready?  How can we prevent it?

New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has an idea. She wants to set up a “truth commission.” And she is not alone. This governmental body would examine news media and root out “misinformation.”

Misinformation? That is, any information that the members of the Commission (and their bosses (at the Capitol and White House and their puppet masters) happen to disagree with.

How soon they forget – Germany 2021

Quarantine is a fairly simple and basic medical technique. When someone has an transmittable/infectious disease, you isolate them to prevent them from spreading that disease. It can be applied to someone suspected of having such a disease. It is a very old method, dating back to at least 1617. Pretty clear, eh?

At least until 2020, and now, this year. Now it is apparently a word of vastly-expanded definitions. Among those are confining someone who might have (or doesn’t have) an infectious disease, to prevent them from getting the disease. And shutting down “non-essential” locales, venues and activities in which some people MIGHT transmit or catch a disease from someone else.

What can come next? (A Baker’s Dozen ™)

With the inauguration of Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris, the apocalypse press is coming on strong. We admit that The Price of Liberty has done our share of dire predictions and concerns. But if it were a contest, TPOL has clearly lost time and again. Here are a few predictions seen just in the past few days.

Read this list, but remember to be courageous, value liberty (your own and others’), recognize that this too shall pass, and never give up!

In requiem: the Democracy of the “United States of America.”

With the end of the second decade of the 21st Century, democracy has died, and is replaced by a mobocracy which may swiftly transform into a tyranny. However oblivious and unwilling the observer, it is clearer than ever that government “of the people, by the people, and for the people” does not exist.

Proof? Election, impeachments, revenge, and more. Let’s start with the election.

Dystopian California

A few months back, Jim Rickards over at Agora put me onto this summary of what California was and has become. I have ties to California: my father and his parents lived in Southern California during WW2 and the last half of the 1940s, and I’ve lived there twice, both times on duty at the now-defunct Presidio of San Francisco: the second time for nearly four years. In the heart of the beast, so to speak. I have recently been in touch with a leader of the CalExit movement, and my wife has family in far, far northern California, around Cape Mendocino. We have friends living almost literally from North to South (east of San Diego). Mama Liberty was a refugee from California, now quite a few years ago.

It is clear that the situation in California is getting more and more dire, unstable, and fearful.

What can be done to unify the Fifty States?

In a recent commentary, we discussed the irreparable nature of the division of the once proud and strong federation called the United States of America.

I suggested that any actions that could reunite – unify – these States are anathema and intolerable. Especially to a lover of liberty.

Here are some thoughts about just what those courses of action could be. I don’t think any of us will like them very much. But that is what happens when a republic – and a federal republic, a federation at that – decays into a democracy and that democracy slides into mob rule. (In both senses: the street mob AND the Mob as in organized crime.) Especially when that republic had fatal flaws to begin with.

Irrepairable – no union, no republic, no “democracy”

As the aftermath of last week’s “protest” at and in the Capitol continues to reverberate around us, more and more people are asking the equivalent of “are all these aftershocks?” But a few are asking, “Is all of this, including the demonstration of ‘democracy’ at the Capitol on the 6th, nothing but precursors, or foreshocks, to the BIG ONE?”

I fear the BIG ONE is still in the future. The NEAR future.

Danegeld – still a way to loot people

The Babylon Bee recently satirized Congress about their anger about “criminals” and “looters” invading the Capitol, because, after all, the only criminals and looters allowed in the Capitol were members of Congress.

Well, Congress is far from the only organized group of looters stealing from American (and other) companies. Or from private citizens.

And taxation is FAR from the only way that government’s “official” looters grab more and more money.

Foolish, backward American hicks

Guilty as charged.

Recently, Tom Woods and I were (very briefly) discussing the attitude that the DC Statists and the “Elites,” especially (but not just) the “leftist” types, have towards “foolish, backward American hicks who (for reasons never fully explained) mysteriously despise science on the other.”

This of course is (as Tom noted) THEIR idea, their worldview.  Of course, one reason that they can hold that view is they are totally unwilling to listen to a full explanation.  But for those trying to convince fellow-workers, family members, or neighbors exactly what this is all about, consider this following discussion:

We actually don’t despise REAL science, only so-called science. But we not just “despise” science, we “deny [the “elite’s” idea of] “science” because:

Internal trust – going away here in the Fifty States

The events of the 2020 election season now appear to be behind us. (Well, I can hope, right?)

The other wing of the Boot-on-Your-Neck Party, out of power (mostly) for four years, now has the baton firmly in their hand. At the end of Annus Horribilis 2020, the multiple attempted coups against the Donald, the Beer Flu, resulting Panic, Lockdown and Rebellion, uprisings in the names of “anti-fascism” and “black lives matter,” and the bizarre election season have brought us to this point. Nationally, trust in institutions, politicians and bureaucrats, and even neighbors and family has been shattered.
