Bakers Dozen ™ Rules for liberty partisans

By Nathan Barton

The enemies of liberty are all around us: we must strike and not count the blows; for just one strike, just one effort, is not enough. We are not talking about or advocating aggression against those who are the enemies of our freedom, our liberties, our lives; we are defending ourselves and the future against them. Consider these rules or concepts: Continue reading

Does it really matter?

By Nathan Barton

We are now in the latter part of July: the old party conventions are starting, and the last stages of the 2016 General Election in the Fifty States will unfold. The actors are being finalized, the stage is being set.

But does it really matter? Johnson and Weld, Castle and Bradley, Stein and ???, all have chances of winning measured in levels of probability of well under 10,000 to 1. Starting on 20th January 2017, there is a 99.99% certainty that the next Massa will be either Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Barack Obama, or Joe Biden (one of the latter two only if there is some sort of coup). And yes, these people are very different from each other. Just as the many candidates for 425 US House seats, and 33 or 34 US Senate seats, are all very different from each other Continue reading

Self-defense, defense of others, or…

By Nathan Barton

NOTE: This is the 1,000th published column by me for The Price of Liberty!

Self-defense or defense of others, or revenge? Can we answer that question?

The Blaze reports on a situation at a Dallas-area Waffle House in which a man, after robbing the cafe and several patrons with an AK-47, exited and was followed by a patron who challenged the robber in the parking lot. The robber reportedly turned and pointed his rifle at the man, who pulled his concealed pistol and shot the robber several times. The shooter told police he was concerned for the safety of his wife, who was on her way to the Waffle House.

According to the stated facts, the shooter was acting in self-defense. He said something to the robber (who had already used his weapon in a act of aggression) who responded by pointing the rifle at the man. Who then responded appropriately. Continue reading

Corruption in the house – and other places (part 2)

By Nathan Barton

In the first part, we discussed the latest corruption queen in the US House of Representatives (who now claims that she is being “persecuted” because she is black). (I think she is wrong: it isn’t because because she is black, it is because she is STUPID. And corrupt. Even for corrupt cops like the FBI, that is an irresistible combination.) And I pointed out that corruption is found everywhere.

Another example in Congress itself (as if we needed more) is the betrayal of his supporters by Sanders’ endorsement of Miz Hillary, or should we say (to reflect her crimelord status) “Ma Hillary.”

But here is yet another example, which I hope would be a sickening moment to so many who have this perverse and fantastic view of the Supreme Court. Continue reading

Corruption in the House – and other places (part 1)

by Nathan Barton

Although this is a Democrat, we are again reminded of the corruption of the powers-that-be, no matter which political party they claim as home. A Florida Democrat congresswoman, Corrine Brown, and her chief of staff have been indicted for corruption and 21 other charges, according to the indictment posted on ScribD, for bilking $800,000 out of contributors to an “education charity” she and her sidekick used as a personal slush fund.

This is, of course, petty cash to congress members, who vote daily on how to steal more money from taxpayers or how to spend stolen money (past, present, and future) on really stupid things, like more power and prestige for themselves, and more pork to buy more votes back in their home district. At least she didn’t FORCE (at least no threat of physical force, apparently) the victims … contributors… to this scheme to shell over the money, unlike how she and the other 434 members of congress do when it comes to income and excise taxes and “fees” and “contributions” to FICA (social security) and the rest. And no doubt, many of the people who donated to this bogus charity feel their money was well spent because they bought influence with her – indeed, they may resent her being indicted because now what they paid for may be lost. Special: French Massacre

by Nathan Barton

Terrorism in France: We’ve seen it again and again, most recently in January of 2015 when Charlie Hebdo was attacked in Paris, and November of 2015 when when three sites in Paris were attacked. And now the Islamist War on the West (and France in particular) comes to the Mediterranean Coast and Nice. And once again, it is clear that nobody in government or the public has learned a single thing. 84 dead, 18 fighting for their lives (maybe) in hospital, after a “loner” drove a truck through Bastille Day crowds on the waterfront.

Compare the two pictures, of some of the crowd fleeing, hands high in the air as they apparently try to surrender to a madman who is not asking for surrender, just driving wildly to swerve and kill more, including the 10 children already dead. Continue reading

Are we really surprised?

By Nathan Barton

I am thinking that it wouldn’t be a half-bad idea to have a regular column entitled, “Really? No surprise here” or something like that. I find myself asking readers and others that question or one like it so often.

I did that last week, when the “honest cop” in charge of the FBI and working directly for the sort of attorney that makes the 1/2 of 1% of attorneys who are worth using for anything but fish food look bad, “found out” that Miz Hillary didn’t do anything worth prosecuting. Really, was anyone surprised?

Today the news that should surprise no one is that Bernie Sanders, who at least SEEMED to be somewhat honest and loyal to his ideology and supporters (no matter how despicable both are), today announced that he was a thousand percent behind Miz Hillary as the next Massa. Yes, he betrayed his supporters, he betrayed his ideology, he endorsed someone who is a criminal, who is being supported by the very special interests that he has spent the last year condemning, and who is the ultimate insider and conspirator. Selling us down the river

By Nathan Barton

Anti-Liberty: Media selling us down the river.

No, it isn’t due to their toking up. It is simply the same old transnational socialism/progressivism, perhaps the worst extreme of statism which we now face. Rolling Stone Magazine has joined the New York Times, the Boston Globe and the tyrant who claims to be President of the United States (and I hate even mentioning the names) in calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment to the United States constitution, following the Islamist terrorist attack in Florida. Not only do they call for its repeal, but the article drags up everything “evil” about the Constitution, demonstrates their warped view of history, and condemns the Federal government – NOT as an evil tyranny, but because it is NOT a strong enough, unitary enough tyranny! Theft by government: fines and code violations and environmental laws

By Nathan Barton

Thanks to Laissez Faire for this news item a week or so ago, from the Dallas News. A man who had a relatively small pile of firewood on the property that he sold in 2002 in the Texan city of Flower Mound has been caught at last, and is facing BILLIONS of dollars in fines. He violated state environmental laws and being charged with illegal disposal of solid waste.

He may also be charged under various other laws, such as daily violations of codes adopted by most cities and counties across the Fifty States. One example is the infamous International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC). The IPMC can be adopted by a council or board in a matter of minutes, creating thousands of regulations that allow their bureaucrats to fill in the blanks, and potentially rack up tens of thousands of fines for such things as: Continue reading

Baker’s Dozen ™ Reasons for Terrorism

Baker’s Dozen ™ Reasons for Terrorism
By Nathan Barton

Another week: another seven days and a half-dozen terrorist attacks each day: another few hundred people dead around the world. At least we are finally to the end of Ramadan: 30 days, 1850 people known dead in 238 recorded attacks, according to constitution.com.

Check which of the following reasons might explain why someone launches a “terrorist attack” in some location, killing (or trying to kill) people: Continue reading
