Libertarian Lessons Learned: the Knights Templar

NOTE: This may be the first of a new, occasional series of commentaries looking at events and organizations of the past with the idea of learning lessons from what they did, good or bad. So that we lovers of liberty in the 21st Century can hopefully avoid the mistakes and repeat the successes. Please let TPOL know if this is of interest!

Warrior Monks and Entrepreneurs

Most people have heard of the Knights Templar (KT), the ancient military order of “christian” (Catholic) warriors. And today, there are 1500 groups worldwide who claim to either be successors or to carry on the ideals and activities of that order in some way. Today, there are those which are both pro- and anti-Masonic, Catholic and anti-Catholic and interdenominational.

California looks to increase rewards for those escaping from the State

It seems that every few days, we read another story from California. Stories about new regulatory requirements, new laws, new tyranny, new attacks on the family, business, and freedom. Every one of these makes it more beneficial to those who vote with their feet to Nevada, Texas, even Colorado and elsewhere.

The latest? A State Assembly-thug is proposing a law that would require parents of students at schools to disclose TO THE SCHOOL how many and what kind of guns and how they are stored in the home. According to Courthouse News, the “justification” for this is that most (68%) school shootings are done by students who take guns from home. The law would also allow warrantless searches of students’ property (that is, cars, bikes, backpacks, briefcases) on school property by the school – not just ALLOW but REQUIRE.

The dangers of math illiteracy

The other day, I listened and watched as my wife (a management analyst by profession, specializing in solid waste management) taught a woman in her thirties – an intelligent woman – how to calculate interest rates and loan payments. Things she had not been taught in 12 years of public primary and secondary education and four years of college. It took Debby about fifteen minutes to teach what many of us consider a fairly essential skill in the States (and many other places) today.

Math Illiteracy Affects 7 Out Of Every 5 People

This seems to be a sign of our times, here in the 21st Century American States.

Time to start new ways of recycling

NOTICE: The Price of Liberty does NOT advocate the initiation of violence, even against government officials and their goons. However, TPOL DOES support any methods of self-defense and defense of others (family, friends, community, homeless, weak, etc.) against aggression: especially the aggression of government and those who worship government.

Are you prepared for the ramping up of chaos and violence? It’s only January, folks: the hot summer months are just that – months away. But things seem to be getting hot and heavy already.

Here is one answer – RECYCLING FOR FUN AND SELF-DEFENSE (or DEFENCE, as you shall see if you read on).

Will Canada go the way of Australia?

Justin Trudeau, latest scion of the “illustrious” Trudeau family political dynasty and apparently anointed El Duce of the Dominion under the benevolent and absent reign of Her Canadian Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has apparently found his role model in governing: the Commonwealth of Australia. Like Australia with its Pandemic-enabled and rather fascist regime, Trudeau has decided that Canadians who do not snap to attention (and then kiss the boots of his lackeys) and obey all the orders to mask, lockdown, and above all, accept the jab, must be punished.

Who are the real revolutionaries?

Today, in the Fifty States and around the world, the so-called left: the social justice warriors, the self-named progressives (who are regressive in every way), the socialists of all the various flavors, claim that THEY are “The Revolution.” The are “the elite” – the vanguard, leading the downtrodden lower classes to that wonderful communism of the future where the state withers away and everyone has what they need and contributes what they can (or want). We constantly read in our history books about the glories of the Orange (and all the other color) Revolutions, the Russian Revolution, the Cuban Revolution, the “Bolivarian” revolutions, and even the French Revolution.

But throughout history, I think that the facts show that the TRUE revolutionaries are those who stood up against the tyranny of men. Not simply to replace the people practicing the tyranny with other people. But to replace the tyranny itself. With freedom, with liberty.

Brainwash open for business – as usual

A recent radio news hour reported that a “poll” said that a majority of Americans thought that people wearing masks are more attractive than those not wearing masks – and specifically those wearing “medical-type” masks. Okay, I said, lets look up the story and read the full details.

Lo and behold, there was such a story. Although I did finally find the correct story (published last week) in the Guardian, the first searches turned up a story from August of 2020 which seemed to be nearly the same thing. Indeed, the stories seemed to match very closely – enough to make me wonder and do some more research.

Voting with our feet – or fleeing danger?

A few days ago, United Van Lines published their 2021 “moving map” which is always fun to look at. Especially for those of us who love and seek more liberty. Or just like to compare States with each other.

BUT – the real fun (and challenge) is to figure out WHY.

Thank you, Uncle Joe!

Saw this on one of my professional literature websites the other day.

An ABC chart tracking prices

Assuming that the BLS is not lying (and if they were, it would be almost certainly in the direction of showing LOWER inflation numbers, not higher), this shows the speeding up of the destruction of prosperity here in the States. It is a direct result of the actions of the Federal Government, under the nominal (very nominal!) leadership of Uncle Joe Biden.

The great mask scam

We still haven’t learned. Or at least our politicians, “public health” experts, bureaucrats and the nannies of the world haven’t.

Masks are a fraud. A scam which has resulted in millions of dollars – if not billions! – of wasted money. Which has created an environmental mess that more and more resembles the bad old days of massive highway and town littering and has added significantly to the plastic pollution of the world’s bodies of water. While almost surely resulting in other medical problems, some with mortality rates comparable (by percentage) to the feared beer flu itself. To say nothing of psychological negative impacts. (Yes, I know that is NOT what 99% of the medical sites out there claim.)

And a fraud that was known nearly a year and a half ago, at least in North Dakota! And by most people able to read graphs and calendars.
