The blame game – Uncle Joe holds the bag?

Readers of The Price of Liberty understand (or at least we HOPE you do) that our organization and publication are NOT fans of the honorable Uncle Joe – the “big guy” who gets his cut.

But we often have to question what is claimed about this poor old man in the conservative and libertarian media.  For example, DID Uncle Joe so weaken the US militarily and diplomatically that Russia and China were (are) emboldened to reach out to touch someone in foreign adventures? Seriously?

Does all the fault lie in him? In his handlers? Is he solely to blame?

Who is to blame for the mess the world is in?

Many people believe that the Democrats in these Fifty States are to blame – that they built the world of March, 2022. They give many reasons for that belief. Reasons that may be part of the problem, but (in my opinion) not just actions taken by Democrats.  There are just as many reasons that Republicans are also responsible. And, for that matter, so-called “independents.”

Let us look at some of those.

Secession in the air here in the Fifty States – again?

A New Hampshire “libertarian Republican” recently stated that the FedGov was on its way to join the Soviet Union of 32 years ago, and “fold like a house of cards.” So according to Newsweek by way of MSN (lots of independent journalism there, eh?), he introduced a bill to get a constitutional amendment on the ballot to have a public vote about leaving the Union. (Well, this zombie that is left of the Union.)

Of course, his bill was defeated 323 to 13 in the lower house of the NH legislature. No real surprise there, of course: that is 0.5% of the illustrious lawmakers – probably less than the percentage of New Hampshirites who are secessionists. Still, better than nothing, and we can hope he introduces the bill again and again.

A Baker’s Dozen ™ Parasites on society and humanity

As wars and rumors of war spin ever higher, as prices are pushed upward by conniving, wicked men and women, as fresh efforts are made to snatch away prosperity and peace and liberty, something always seems to happen. Just as happens every year, as the New Year’s celebration trash gets cleaned up, we are spammed by various “prophesies” of disaster and doom and gloom. So now, too, all the doomsayers are out and screaming loudly. So too are the various hucksters promising to solve all known and unknown problems and proclaiming there will be pie in the sky by and by. We just have to subscribe to their philosophy (and of course, subscribe to their blogs and mailing lists for $99/year).

Origins of war – then and now

Once upon a time, I admired Sir Winston Churchill. But then, as Paul of Taurus tells us, I grew up, and put away childish things. I learned a lot more about what Churchill did, both before he became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the Empire, and while Prime Minister.

Thus it was quite amusing, if disgusting, to hear that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is trying to compare himself – and is being compared – to Churchill. There is no doubt that Zelenskyy is being touted as a great wartime leader. But like so much else coming out of Eastern Europe, we MUST take this with great skepticism. Zelenskyy, like Putin, like Uncle Joe, like Xi Jinping, has a sordid history and a very flawed history. (Indeed, just like Churchill.) And his goals – not “defeating Russian aggression” – are highly suspect.

The Pandemic Panic is running its course – time for the WW3 Excuse

Excuse for what? Well, for more government control (tyranny and totalitarianism), more economic disruption (or collapse), more environism, and more internal conflict and destruction of society. No, NOT just in Eastern Europe or in Asia. Right here in the States.

The powers-that-be constantly seek for and work towards a world in which they and their minions (and patrons) have near-absolute control over the rest of us. Just as they used COVID-19 Pandemic, so they are now using the war in Eastern Europe.

How much more stupid and evil can Western leaders get?

Today, Beloved Leader Uncle Joe announced that no more Russian oil will be accepted in American ports. Although he said nothing about it (that I heard), I assume that the FedGov will seize (steal) any Russian oil already located in terminals or pipelines – or even gas stations. Fortunately, apparently, the Fifty States only gets 5% of our current crude oil from the Russians. But never mind, Uncle Joe boasted about how we will sacrifice by paying higher prices for gasoline and diesel. And never mind that thousands of people are likely to lose their jobs – if not their businesses – because of this ban.

And also never mind, that Beloved Supreme Leader of the Free World also announced that the US will seek to get oil to replace the Russian 5% from the following freedom-loving, liberty-minded nations:

  • Iranian Islamic Republic
  • Bolivarian Republic of Venuezela
  • Saudi Kingdom of Arabia

Supposedly, banning Russian oil will make Putin’s war machine run out of fuel. (Never mind the tons of gold and that annoying fact that even Russia can borrow money just like the FedGov does.)

So, instead, what will getting oil from these three nations at $130+++ per barrel will pay for:

  • Islamist radical terrorism throughout the world (both Shi’a and Sunni!)
  • More revolution in Latin America pushing Communism
  • More abuse – and death – of oppressed women and homosexuals
  • More oppression of minority populations in all three countries
  • and a dozen other causes.

Now, I understand that the DC regime claims that it supports equal (or superior) rights for homosexuals, women, minorities everywhere, and loudly bray that unlike their “far-left” social justice warriors, do NOT support Communism or Socialism. So (a) they are lying (and therefore evil) or (b) they are stupid, or (c) BOTH evil and stupid.

Of course, IF the current regime in DC had not ended the Keystone XL and Dakota Access and other pipelines, I guess we’d be buying oil from (and therefore supporting) that dictatorship in the Great White North (Canada). But hey, sacrifices, right? I know that Uncle Joe (or at least his menders) would love to see more money flow into Trudeau’s coffers, right? But they are willing to give up something for poor, dear Ukraine.

Of course, ALL the Western Powers’ leaders seem to have this same problem. Consider:

  • Ohio has banned the sale of Russian vodka
  • Canada has banned drafting of Russian hockey players
  • Glasgow (Scotland) has banned Russian films
  • Italy has banned teaching Russian literature
  • The FedGov’s European “allies” in NATO have NOT banned Russian oil.

Gee, all that will show Russia how evil they are, and how they must withdraw from Ukraine (and Crimea) immediately or… Well, I’m not sure just what.

PS: I don’t know whether it is because he is senile, coming out, stupid, evil (or all of the above), but listening to Beloved Supreme All-knowing Leader and Ruler of the Free World (and soon the Whole Planet!) this morning, I think he was plain demonstrating glee at the fact that his action will cause fuel prices to go still higher in the Fifty States.

We aren’t in California (where Diesel fuel is approaching $8/gallon) but here in SD, between Sunday and Monday, Diesel jumped from $4.15 to $4.45 a gallon. I am sure its even higher today.

The deadly war on some drugs

The last several weeks in South Dakota have seen jockeying back and forth as the legislature wrestled internally on whether to follow “the will of the people” in the 2020 elections to legalize both medical and recreational use of that nasty old stuff cannibis.

Both parties seem to be torn between those who want to chastise and overturn the will of the people, and those who want to (in some way) legalize the stuff. The excuses for sticking it to the people are many, and some are pretty pitiful: such as “‘t’aint legal for the Feds yet” to “the roads will be more unsafe” and “but the chillun’s be able to get it easier.” Why? If highway safety were really such an overriding concern, SD would have never ended alcohol prohibition and would be a dry State today. If ease of minors getting alcohol and tobacco were so critical, well – you know what would still be illegal.

In the total all-States view, South Dakota isn’t much. But it reflects all too much the American war on some drugs.

This is all preliminary to the main subject of this commentary: while we are screaming and crying and praying over a few thousand civilians in Ukraine dying in that war, we continue to see tens and even hundreds of people die here in the Fifty States in our so-far eternal war on some drugs.

DC or… can we hope, “Jericho?”

This Sunday, the first elements of the 2022 Freedom Convoy of truckers, friends, family, supporters – and no doubt a dozen “friends of Jesus in a microbus” made their first orbit on the Beltway (I-95 and I-495) around the District of Criminals.

I understand that they intend to repeat that drive, slowly but apparently NOT blocking traffic, today (Monday 07 March 2022).

From NBC News coverage

Which triggered some interesting thoughts for Debby and me.

Lines more clearly drawn?

Things continued to heat up in Ukraine for weeks. And now we are at the tenth day of war. Please understand: we here at TPOL condemn Russian aggression. And we were wrong thinking that Putin was putting pressure on Ukraine by preparing for an invasion. But this war is NOT anything that is harming legitimate American interests – unless we make it so by getting more involved. Stay out of it. Let those at war now continue to fight their war. Or wars.

War is bad – even worse when it is not essential. The lies, the fog of war make it worse. Especially when all the moaning and screaming and crying fogs up matters more. When there are questions. For example…
