Libertarian Commentary on the News, #14-29B: Nanny State Stupidity

By Nathan Barton

In Texas, the cartels are “suspected” as high-caliber gunfire sends Border Patrol scrambling on Rio Grande.

Mama’s Note: Maybe they should borrow some guns from the post office and shoot back…  Do they even have “rape whistles?”

Hmmm.  Apparently in the interests of being “kinder and gentler” the BP is less heavily armed at the border than everywhere else in the nation, but I notice that they claim that they do not have the armored vehicles capable of protecting them against this harassing fire.  Why? Continue reading

Libertarian Commentary on the News, #14-29A: government does NOT protect us.

By Nathan Barton

Good morning.  Here are a few examples in the news about what government does (and does not do).  Be warned, please.

Job growth picks up in states that raised minimum wage, according to Fox News, quoting US Department of Labor “data” – reminding us how MUCH statistics lie. Continue reading

Libertarian commentary on the News, #14-28E: Evil is as stupid does.

by Nathan Barton

Good morning this weekend, as we swelter in the heat again.

The Black Death (pneumonic plague) has appeared in Denver, not just in remote prairie dog villages.  This Jennifer House does not seem to know much about the matter.  Or is being carefully coached in what to say.  I work with CDPHE on a nearly-daily basis, and my confidence in them is very, very low.  It is obvious that the woman has no grounding in basic public health OR the plague.

Mama’s Note: Jennifer is a government employee… tells you all you need to know. Continue reading

Libertarian Commentary on the News, #14-28D: Stupid people and agencies

By Nathan Barton

Good morning, and enjoy the heat!  Did you know that the recent cold spell is all the fault of man made global warming?  The “polar vortex” is due to instability in the Arctic, which is caused by – that’s right – global warming.  I mentioned in the last column that PopSci claims that the Antarctic ice is melting and will cause the sea level to rise by 10 feet – not inches, feet.  But while people in Europe panic over melting glaciers in the Alps, a few historians have pointed out that in classical Roman times (First Century AD), there WERE no glaciers in the Alps.  Of course, the true believers in global warming believe that WE are as stupid as their minions are.  But we can easily figure out who is lying, can’t we?  On to news: Continue reading

Libertarian commentary on the news, #14-28C: Contrasts between business and government

By Nathan Barton

Good morning.  Just a short column today, after being slow on writing for a couple of days., due to travel and many distractions.  But here we go.

Canaanite front: Israel accepts truce plan; Hamas balks.  The Hamas rejection came just minutes after Israel’s security cabinet decided to embrace terms set forward late Monday night by Egypt’s military-backed government.  If it isn’t one side, it is the other.  Neither side is telling the truth, without a doubt. Not My Problem

By MamaLiberty

mama-crop

Not my problem. I’m sure a lot of people would consider that a harsh thing to say, but if you’ll stay with me a bit you should easily see that it is the only real answer to the whole “politically correct” thing sweeping this country and, incidentally, the world.

“You made me mad. You didn’t make me happy. I’m offended.” You can probably add a hundred more such phrases people use to control what you do, say and even what you believe. That’s exactly what happens when a few people can choose any word or object, assign a specific (often NEW and ugly) meaning to it, and then demand that nobody use that word or object because it “makes them feel”… whatever. Libertarian commentary on the news, #14-28B: This and that

By Nathan Barton

Good morning. Congressional Democrats have unveiled a bill to override the Nine Nazgul’s ruling on the Hobby Lobby case.  Everyone says this bill has absolutely no chance of passing.  But we can expect this to be a constant issue and it is intended to help election-year fundraising and vote getting (and cheating) among the Dems’ loyalists.  Certainly it has led to certain Democratic cretin-stars to openly say what they have believed for years: that the First Amendment is as unacceptable to them as the 2nd, that religion must be suppressed and subordinate in ALL ways to government, and that refusing to pay for something that is wrong for someone IS stealing their “right” to be a parasite and live off you in every way that they can.  It should make it easier to show people how wicked and evil government is, once they get past the whinging give-me attitude. Libertarian commentary on the news, #14-28A: Stupid government: all the wars

By Nathan Barton

Good morning: it has truly been said that war is the health of the state, and today’s headlines prove it.  Here are a few examples of the stupidity of government and its wars.

War on Some Drugs: There is a right way to do things, and a good many wrong ways to do them: government almost inevitably chooses the wrong way(s) to do something.  Consider, for example, this last week’s “legalization”  of marijuana for recreational use in Washington State, one of the more “progressive” states of the Fifty, but one in which voters nearly TWO years ago voted to legalize the selling, purchase, ownership, and consumption of cannabis. Above The “Law”

By MamaLiberty

The lawless religious right: Time to stop caving to their ridiculous tantrums
Salon – by Katie McDonogh

“The Christian right wants to live above the law, and so far they’ve been wildly successful at getting what they want. But the progressive left — led by a coalition of LGBTQ organizations — is finally poised to fight hard against the trend, and to push Congress and Obama to do the same.” (07/10/14)

The “right” wants to live above the law. So does the “left.” Congress and the President most certainly live “above the law,” along with all or most of the federal employees in the country, especially the alphabet soup gangs. Then there are all those cops who definitely live in smug defiance of any law that should punish them for harming innocents. State, county and city governments in general work hard getting around some laws, even if they can’t jump above them quite as easily as the “dear leader.” The folks on Wall Street, and a vast array of corporate entities don’t seem to have much problem ignoring the law that is enforced on the rest of us either. Libertarian commentary on the news, #14-27E: Urban areas, economics, and government

By Nathan Barton

Good morning and welcome to the end of another week.  Let us briefly look at cities, economic matters, and of course, stupid government, remembering that much government just plain shuts down for the weekend.

John Ransom at Townhall points out what a wonderful example Chicago was last weekend, with 10 dead and 50 shot in what he calls “Happy Dependence Day.”  Chicago is indeed the poster child for Tranzi philosophy and government, because of its corruption, its incest (business and all the levels of government), the sheep-like demeanor of its people, and the way it produces such FINE examples of humanity like the Fuehrer and his Consort and the Emanuels and Al Capone and Honest Abe:  indeed a “worthy” successor of Babylon, Rome and Constantinople and Paris… Continue reading
